PeeWee Standings
Hello, Houseleague Rookieball parents and players. The following communication provides important information regarding the upcoming season.
EVALUATIONS
The first evaluation session is scheduled for Wednesday, May 2. The second is on Sunday, May 6. Both are at 6:00 p.m.
The evaulation sessions help us gauge our player skill levels, so that we can make our teams as balanced as possible.
Players need only attend one session. We want to make the teams as even as possible, so please attend one of the sessions. We'll do our best to create teams over the ensuing couple of days.
EVALUATIONS - WHAT TO WEAR?
Running shoes, comfortable clothing for running, throwing, batting.
The weather is still unpredictable. Last year the temperature dropped, and we had a lot of shivering kids on the field. I strongly recommend long sleeve shirts. Bring a jacket or sweater just in case. Thin gloves for the non-baseball glove hand will keep little fingers from going numb.
EVALUATIONS - VOLUNTEERS
If you are able to help out during evaluations, please send an email to matt.ryan.williams@gmail.com - our goal is to make the evaluations quick and fun for the kids. Don't worry if you don't have any baseball experience. Let me know which day you will be attending.
VOLUNTEERS - REGULAR SEASON
Annette Baseball has only been able to be successful because parents like you have stepped up to help out. Everyone currently helping run the organization started out with a kid at their side on the first day and no plan to volunteer when they left the house that evening. Helping need not involve being a head coach: we also need people to help at first and third base. And we need people to keep track of the game score. And someone needs to help organize snacks. None of it's not too onerous and head coaches have enough on their plates already, so please help your team's season run as smoothly as possible.
START OF SEASON
We are aiming to start the season on Sunday, May 13. In any event, all games will be played at Ravina Gardens on Sundays and Wednesdays. The vast majority of games will start at 6:00 p.m. (sharp). There may be a few Sunday afternoon games.
It always takes 15 minutes to set a lineup and get the players organized. And this is independent of getting the field ready. So we urge you to get your players to the field at least 15 minutes before gametime. That can be a challenge, we know. If you can't make it or expect to be late, please text your coach(es).
Those who arrive after that time risk missing turns at bat and in the field, especially as batting orders and defensive alignments will be made prior to gametime.
UNIFORMS
Uniforms will be ready early in the season.
See you next week!
